There is a new rule on Health Portability from October 1, 2011. According to the norm of Health Portability, if you switch your insurer, your cover continues and you would not have to wait again for 48 months for the pre existing disease cover provided your last policy was inforce and all due premiums are paid on time.

Hence you can shift your insurer if you are not happy with your present one.
