Tax Benefits in United India Health Insurance Policy for Senior Citizens

 

Health Insurance premiums paid up to Rs 20,000 for senior citizens are allowed as a deduction from the taxable income each year under section 80D of the Income Tax Act.

 

 

Exclusions - What is not covered in United India Health Insurance Policy for Senior Citizens?

 

  • Treatments within first 30 days, exceptions – accidental case
  • Pre-existing conditions for first 4 years
  • Cost of spectacles, hearing aids, contact lenses, walker, crutches, collars, braces, diabetic foot wear etc that are used at home
  • Dental treatment or surgery unless due to accident and requiring hospitalisation
  • HIV, AIDS and related diseases
  • Cost of vitamins and tonics unless part of treatment
  • Naturopathy treatment, acupressure, acupuncture and other such therapies
  • First 2 yrs exclusion on treatment of conditions like cataract, hypertrophy, hysterectomy, hernia,  calculus, joint replacement, osteoporosis, osteoarthritis etc
  • Congenital (diseases existing at birth) for first 2 yrs
  • General weakness, rest cure, convalescence etc
  • Service charges, surcharge, admission fees or registration charges at the hospital

This policy is created for the senior citizen's of India. But it has the maximum entry age limit to 80. Does the people above 80 years doesn't require any insurance or if people wants to switch to different insurance policy what will be the option available for them.

oldage people mainly suffers cataract and dental with diabetic problems in general but the same are excluded for sr.citizens. then why this policy? not suitable
