ICICI Lombard has bagged the contract to extend its health insurance scheme that will cover over 3.5 lakh households in Goa.
The deal was finalized through a bidding process in which six other insurance companies participated. This included companies like National Insurance, Royal Sundaram, and Tata AIG. ICICI Lombard outbid these insurers by quoting the lowest premium for implementing this scheme.
The scheme was launched by the Chief Minister of Goa, Digambar Kamat under which every household would get health care for up to Rs 60,000 annually. This would include preliminary and secondary health care for people residing in Goa for the last five years.
State Health Minister of Goa, Vishwajit Rane, said that cashless cards would be provided to the beneficiaries and the scheme will be effective from September, this year. He added that Goa would be the first state to implement such a scheme for its people.
Goa already has a mediclaim scheme under which the population gets super-specialty treatment.
