Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) has initiated a massive public campaign to create awareness among policyholders about bogus and spurious calls. The aim is to alarm people against increasing frauds conducted in the name of insurance.

This time though the awareness campaign has been done in a versatile way, through YouTube videos and Billboards in Metro trains.

The awareness campaign highlights the below points:
– IRDAI does not sell insurance policies
– IRDAI also does not invest premiums collected by insurers
– IRDAI does not declare bonus in any insurance policy

In case, if any individual gets such calls, s/he should report the name, phone number and other relevant details of the caller to the nearby police station.

The insurance regulator has also enhanced the efforts to make the public aware about the Grievance Redressal System available to them against such fraudulent calls.

Hope, such initiatives by IRDAI will reduce the number of spurious calls and the subsequent harm caused to the policyholders and general public.
