L&T General Insurance Company, the latest entrant in the general insurance industry,
has tied up with Vimo Sewa, an Ahmedabad based co-operative, to distribute micro insurance products to female workers. This would be the 1st micro insurance agent for the insurer.
All insurers are required to meet a certain part of their business through micro-insurance products.
L&T General Insurance has launched 4 new products to cater to the micro insurance category:
- my:jeevika Medisure Micro Insurance
- my:jeevika Personal Accident Micro Insurance
- my:jeevika Standard Fire & Special Perils Micro Insurance
- my:jeevika Cash@hospital Micro Insurance
These products are specifically designed keeping in mind the lifestyle and the income levels of rural India. The premiums range from Rs. 50 to Rs 730 per annum.
Vimo Sewa is associated with 1.3 million self-employed women working and running small businesses.
