Mr. Milind Kharat, Chairman cum Managing Director of United India Assurance and Mr. P.J. Joseph, Chairman of Agriculture Insurance Company (AIC) announced the launch of internet website that will enable issuance of Crop Insurance policies of AIC. This initiative is a part of Financial Inclusion Programme undertaken by United India Assurance Company Ltd. This scheme will also benefit the farmers who do not have easy access to the offices of insurance companies.
This Website of United India Assurance Company, which sells weather based crop insurance scheme and modified National Agricultural Insurance scheme in the state of Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, endeavor the crop insurance needs of the cultivator staying in distant areas. The process to be followed is that the farmers will be given a unique identification number which has to be used for policy renewals as well as communication to the insurance company.
In addition to the above, through this website, agents to the insurance company would be able to submit data on a real time basis resulting in quick settlement of claim.
