Term, health, travel or personal accident are some of the covers that come to your mind when you hear the word insurance. However, as the world innovates to breach the conventional barrier in all fields, same is the case with our insurance policies. The insurers have introduced some unique covers especially customized for us, which we didn’t even know existed. Take a look at some of them:

Kaun Banega Crorepati Insurance

How many of you knew that the prize money given out on the indigenous version of Who Wants to be a Millionaire is actually doled out by the show’s insurer and not the producers? Well, strange isn’t it! But it’s true and the producers aren’t the philanthropist we thought they were.  So basically, every time a Harshvardhan Nawathe or Sushil Kumar win the ‘moolah’, it’s the insurer who skips a beat.  If you want to get your valuable possession insured, go ahead! No matter how weird it may sound or seem, don’t worry about getting judged. However odd the insurance might be, you can be sure of not being the only one buying it.

Alien Abduction Insurance

Voice insurance, body part insurance and what not you must have heard. However, an alien abduction insurance is something you don’t often hear about. But it’s as true as it can be, their indeed is such an insurance and the first company to offer this type of an insurance is Florida headquartered St. Lawrence Agency. Since then it is estimated that over 20,000 people across the globe have opted for an alien abduction insurance. It seems that the fear of aliens is so dramatic, especially among men, that they have actually gone ahead and taken impregnation insurance, for protection against the unknown capabilities of alien technology.

Change of heart policy for the bride and the groom

Now this is what we describe as ‘El Classico’! Perhaps, it’s Julia Roberts’s ‘The Runaway Bride’ which highlighted the trend of brides developing cold feet before the weeding and making a dash leaving the altar but it seems that grooms have also joined the bandwagon. While no insurer can repair your heart if you are at the receiving end, but you can take an insurance cover which is popularly referred to as the ‘change of heart policy’. At least with this policy in the bag, you won’t have to pay for the decoration and food for the wedding which never happened as the policy will take care of that. It’s best to be prepared so that the caterer is unable to rub salt on your wounds.

Vampire/Zombie Attack Policy

There are people who believe that a Zombie apocalypse is imminent. Not wanting to be caught off guard on the day of reckoning, it is believed that they have opted for a zombie attack insurance. Another set of paranoid individuals are those who believe in the concept of Vampires and live in constant fear of being attacked by them. While, the extent of paranoia may seem strange and exaggerated in both the cases, what’s more interesting that London-based insurer, Lloyds, have actually gone ahead and customized such policies for people.

Paranormal Investigation Insurance

Ghost hunting has become popular as a profession thanks to the much acclaimed movie – ‘The Conjuring’ or thanks to TV shows such as ‘Ghost Hunters’ and ‘Ghost Adventures’. With the grave nature of risks involved in this vocation, the legal paranormal societies, who conduct such investigations have gone ahead and tied up with insurers to cover them with professional indemnity coverage.
