I am 32 & & hv Chronic Kidney Failure..So can't buy any Health Insurance ..But m lookin 4 an Individual Health Policy for my mother..She is 57 and so far free from any problms..I want a plan dat covers all normal illnesses/Surgeries/Hospitalization as well as critical illnesses..i.e. Critical illness shouldn't be an Add-On cover/Rider with xtra Premium, it shld be part of the Base Policy..I m aware that der can be a waiting period of 2 years(approx) for Hernia, Piles, Cataract etc..Even dats OK..Also there shld be lifetime renewals and pre as well as post Hospitalisation costs shld be coverd..If ders an advntage of a No Claims Cumulative Bonus , that wld also benefit. Premium limit is max of 12,000 Annually ..Also co-payments and deductibles should'nt be compulsory..So far I am confusd..Shld I opt 4 LIC's Jeevan Aarogya? Do they allow Lifetime renewals? Its confusing & complicatd..Or Shld I opt for Bajaj Allianz's Health Plans..Ensure , Individual Health Guard..etc?Or Cigna TTK's Pro Health Protect? I am really confusd & wish to take the right decision at the earliest..I wld be grateful if you advise me the right product as per my needs. Thanks for ur Help, Time & Advice. Smita.

Hi Smita,
Some of the health insurance plans offer critical illness cover as part of the plan (and not seperately). However the premiums of such plans may be higher.
So it is better you first buy a comprehensive health insurance policy for her. And then take an additional critical illness policy.
Lifelong renewals have been made compulsory by IRDA so that is available in all plans.
Pre and Post hospitalisation are standard features of almost all health plans.
Deductibles is not usually available in mediclaim plans. It is more of a feature of Topup plans.
You may need to stretch your budget a bit because Rs.12,000 for age 57 may not help in getting an adequate sum insured.

Health Insurance Plans
Enter your details on the Health Insurance Premium Calculator and you will see a list of plans with premiums and features.
Both Bajaj Allianz and Cigna TTK have good health plans and you can buy either one.
