Vinay Ramohalli Gopala April 22, 2014 Share this interaction Share this Facebook 0 Twitter 0 My second hand car had an ICICI Lombard insurance valid until October 2014. I applied in their regional office in Bangalore for the ownership transfer. I was told it will take about 2 days. Even after a month the transfer did not occur. Frustrated I bought a new insurance from Bajaj. I am requesting them to pay back the complete premimum amount. They are not willing. Can I sue them?. As far as recovering the money is concerned, you can approach the IRDA or the Ombudsman regarding the same. They should be able to pay you back the pro-rated amount since you are cancelling the plan provided you have done all the basic steps: According to the rule, as soon as the sale deed is done, there is a Form 29 and a Form 30, which needs to be submitted to the Insurance Company even before the Registration Certificate is submitted for a name change. However, before you purchased the new plan, you could have approached the Ombudsman regarding the same but nevertheless you can still do so.
