SBI Critical Illness Insurance Plan
SBI Critical Illness Insurance Plan, covers 13 Critical Illnesses and offers fixed amount regardless of actual medical expenses. The plan helps insured to bear the high cost of treatment associated with critical illness & stay financially stable.
How does the plan work?
The policy offers cover against 13 Critical Illnesses. The Insurance benefit is payable, only if the Insured is alive / survives for a period of more than or equal to 28 days from the date of the first diagnosis of any of the Critical illnesses. The 13 Critical Illnesses are as follows:
Cancer
Kidney Failure (End Stage Renal Failure)
Primary Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension
Multiple Sclerosis
Major Organ Transplant
Coronary artery by-pass grafts (with surgery to divide the breastbone)
Aorta Graft Surgery
Heart Valve Surgery
Stroke
Myocardial Infarction (First Heart Attack)
Coma
Total Blindness
Paralysis
Only one Critical Illness claim can be allowed during the lifetime of the Insured. The maximum benefit amount under Critical Illness cover to any insured is Rs. 5,000,000 including all policies that are issued by the Insurer.

Key points:-
An income proof may be required as per the sum insured
In case of non-earning Insured sum insured would be up to 50% of Sum Insured based on Proposer Income maximum up to 10 lacs.
Based on Medical history, Sum Insured & age, the proposer may have to undergo a Medical Examination.
Pre-acceptance medical tests will be at the cost of the proposer. However, if the proposal is accepted the Insurer will reimburse 50% of the cost incurred towards the medical tests.
The maximum insurance that can be granted to any individual is INR 5,000,000 including all policies and applications irrespective of whether they are with SBI General or other insurers in the Indian market.
The Maximum Sum Insured would be up to Rs.15, 00,000/- for insured persons aged 60 and above.
Additional Features of SBI Critical Illness Insurance Plan
Free look period – If the policy holder is not convinced with the terms and conditions of the policy, s/he can cancel the same within 15 days of the receipt of policy document.
Long time Renewability – The policy can be renewed for a life time.
