Star Health Criticare Plus
Of all the critical illness policies that are available in the industry, the Star Health Criticare Plus Insurance Plan is probably the most comprehensive health insurance plan. Criticare Plus is a unique policy because it provides regular Hospitalisation benefits in addition to the critical Illness cover.
Key Features
Non-Allopathic Treatments (applicable to Section I only) is available upto 25% of Sum Insured per occurrence subject to a maximum of Rs 25,000 per policy period.
Hospital room accommodation is covered till 2% of sum insured subject upto to a maximum of Rs.4000/- per day
The fees of the doctors, the Boarding and Nursing expenses, fees of the surgeon and his team of doctors, consultant, Anesthetist and Specialist are also included.

- Major Organ Transplant
- First time diagnosis of Brain Tumour, Cancer, Chronic Kidney Disease, Hepatoma, etc.
- Coma
- Paraplegia and Quadriplegia
- Cerebro-Vascular Stroke causing Hemiplegia, Acute Myocardial Infarction resulting in Left Ventricular Ejection Fraction of less than 25%

Tax Benefit
Health Insurance premiums paid in any mode other than cash up to Rs. 15,000 and Rs 20,000 for senior citizen are allowed as a deduction from the taxable income each year under section 80D of the Income Tax Act.

Exclusions
- Initial waiting period of 30 days from commencement of the policy, whereby no claims will be admitted during that period.
- Certain diseases are excluded in the first year of operation like Fistula in anus, Piles, Sinusitis and related disorders, congenital internal disease/defects, removal of gallstones and renal stone, Benign Prostate Hypertrophy, Hernia, Hydrocele
- Some of the diseases are excluded in the first Two Years of operation, which are knee replacement surgery, Cataract, Hysterectomy for Menorrhagia or Fibromyoma, Prolapse of inter-vertebral disc and varicose ulcers
- Expenses for diagnostic purposes and Naturopathy treatment are not included
- Hospitalisation expenses would be paid till the date of diagnosis of major illnesses because once the critical illness is diagnosed, the lump sum benefit is paid out and the policy is terminated
- There is a 90 day waiting period to receive the critical illness benefit in the first year of operation
