Star Health Unique Insurance policy stands true to its name as it offers the unique feature of covering medical expenses for certain pre-existing diseases within 11 months only as compared to most of the health insurance policies which cover pre-existing diseases after 48 months.

Tax Benefits in Star Unique Insurance Policy
Premiums paid for health insurance policies are exempted from taxable income up to Rs. 15,000 for individuals and Rs 20,000 for senior citizens.
Exclusions - What is not covered in Star Unique Insurance Policy?
Any treatment within first 30 days from policy start date
4 yr exclusion on cancer, bone marrow transplant, cirrhosis of liver, retinal detachment, chronic kidney disease etc
First 2 years on cataract, hysterectomy, varicose veins and varicose ulcers, thyroiditis, replacement surgery for knee and/or joint, glaucoma etc
First year exclusion on prostrate hypertrophy, hernia, hydrocele, Cholecystectomy, Gall Bladder Calculi and Renal Calculi etc. If these are pre-existing then waiting period is 2 yrs
Purely diagnostic expenses where there is no positive confirmation of existence of the disease
