Aviva India’s ‘Great Wall of Education’ has earned a spot in The Limca Book of Records.

The mega donation drive called ‘Great Wall of education’ initiated by Aviva received an overwhelming response from the masses. It was first carried out on November 11, 2009, in Delhi inviting people and schools to donate books for underprivileged children and collecting over 1,20,000 books. Later on, the drive was conducted across Kolkata, Chennai Delhi, and Mumbai and amassed over 9,50,000 books. In Chennai, actor Kamal Hassan personally placed the first set of books on September 5, 2010.

The books collected were later distributed to more than 5 lakh underprivileged children who are supported by NGOs. Hon’ble Union HRD Minister Kapil Sibal presented 1,23,000 books to Save the Children NGO in Delhi in the year 2009.

Aviva India is a joint venture between one of the country’s oldest and largest groups, Dabur, and the UK’s largest insurance group Aviva plc with a vision to build a robust insurance portfolio. The company has a diverse range of life insurance products like Ulips, Savings, and Money back plans, Retirement or pension plans, Investment plans, Child plans, etc.

Commenting on the occasion, Gaurav Rajput, Director of Marketing of Aviva India said, “At Aviva, we recognize that Education is Insurance for a better future, and this is also the thought behind our Street to School program.

The ‘Street to School’ program was launched in 2009 by Aviva in partnership with CRY with an objective to provide education to 50,000 underprivileged children. For this noble initiative, the employees of Aviva India volunteered to donate a day’s salary amounting to 65 lakhs over 2 years.

Limca Book of Records has recognized the huge wall of books by Aviva, which should act as a catalyst and encourage them further for their efforts.
