West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee announced Rs. 1.25 Lakh health insurance cover for all the performers and technicians of film studio associated with the Bengal film industry also known as Tollywood. In addition to this, she also announced a pension of Rs. 750 per month for folk artistes. This announcement was made by her while addressing the press reporter at the State Secretariat.
Mr. Gautam Ghosh, a film director by profession, who was present with Mamta Banerjee during her press conference, said that it is a very sensible move and that the same is welcomed by the professionals. He also thanked the Chief Minister for initiating this move as there was a long standing demand on this from technicians who find it difficult to meet up their health expenses.
