In a recent development, Jaslok hospital, one of the premier hospitals in Mumbai, has just joined the Preferred Provider Network (PPN). The CEO of Jaslok, Colonel Manesh Masand said that they are joining PPN to help patients and have agreed to the rates for 43 packages. In instances where claims fall outside the purview of the package, either the insurance company or the policyholder will have to bear the costs. The cashless PPN rates will be effective from 15th January.

Another big institution that may join the PPN will be Fortis hospital along with a couple of other names that are in talks with the General Insurance Public Sector Association (GIPSA). Currently, there are 169 hospitals in Mumbai on the cashless mediclaim network which includes Seven Hills, Wockhardt, Kohinoor hospital, etc.

GIPSA is a group of 4 public-sector insurance companies namely Oriental Insurance Company Ltd, National Insurance Company Ltd, New India Assurance Company Ltd, and United India Insurance Company Ltd. These insurers were incurring huge losses due to inflated claims, and to overcome this problem, so they decided to provide cashless facility only to hospitals who agreed to join the PPN network.

As more hospitals join the PPN, policyholders stand better chances of getting treatment from a hospital of their preference.
