Tata AIG Criticare Critical illness insurance policy is a special health insurance policy that offers a lump sum payment on diagnosis of certain critical illnesses so that the policy holder can use the money for treatment of the disease. The policy is available without any medical examination test and offers tax benefits under section 80D too.

Lumpsum benefit is given to the policyholder if diagnosed with any of the 11 critical illness. The benefit amount is paid in lump sum
No medical test or examination required to enroll into the policy
Can be purchased in addition to any basic mediclaim or health insurance policy.
Policy pays the benefit amount even if the expenses are claimed under some other health insurance policy
Provides Double claim benefit to the policyholder
The critical illness plan provides world-wide protection cover for 365 days of the year
Benefit amount will be paid if the policy holder survives for 30 days after the first diagnosis of the critical illness

Tax Benefit
The policy offers tax benefits up to Rs. 15,000 as a deduction from the taxable income each year under section 80D of the IT Act

Exclusions
- Pre-existing conditions or illness arising from the existing disease
- Critical illness for which the symptoms occurred prior to or within 90 days of commencement of the policy
- Skin Cancer
- Self-inflicted injury, mental or nervous disorder, stress or depression etc
- AIDS or HIV related
- Congenital illness (existing at birth)
- Participation in professional sports, skydiving, bungee jumping or other sporting activities
- Plastic or cosmetic surgery
- Radioactive, nuclear contamination
- War, invasion etc
